How to Prepare an Interior Design Quotation in India
A step-by-step method for preparing a clear, accurate interior design quotation: measurements, scope, rates, GST, exclusions and payment terms.
1. Measure every room
Record length, width and height for each room, plus wall lengths for wardrobes, kitchens and TV units. Accurate measurements are the base of every quantity in the quote.
2. Define scope room by room
List each item under the room it belongs to. Customers understand 'Master Bedroom — wardrobe' better than a flat list of materials.
3. Pick the right unit and rate
Use Sq.ft for wardrobes, ceilings and painting, Running ft for kitchens and TV units, Nos for fixtures and Lump Sum for fixed scope. Apply rates from a single studio rate card so quotes stay consistent.
4. Add fees, discount and GST
Show design or consultation fees as separate lines, apply any discount before tax, then show GST separately.
5. State exclusions, timeline and payment terms
List what is not included, the expected timeline, and payment milestones tied to work stages. Add a validity date.
